FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dings Crusaders RFC receive Gilbert Rugby Balls from Honda UK Guinness World Record

Honda UK recently set the Guinness World Records title for the largest rugby ball mosaic (logo). A total of 2,030 size-five rugby balls were used to create the mosaic: 813 supporter-quality red balls, and 1,217 training-quality white balls. The balls were supplied by Gilbert, the official supplier of the England Rugby.

The record-breaking Honda logo mosaic was subject to stringent quality checks to ensure that it complied with Guinness World Records’ rules. Guinness World Records, the global authority on record-breaking, required documentary evidence, including videography, photography, a surveyor's report and independent witness reports.

Earlier this year, Honda announced a multi-year deal with the England Rugby Football Union. As Performance Partner, Honda’s logo is displayed on the England men’s under-18s’ and under-20s’ playing and training kits which is one of several new initiatives. As part of Honda UK’s commitment to grassroots games, the record-breaking rugby balls used to form the mosaic are being donated to grassroots rugby clubs across the UK by local Honda dealerships.

Bristol Honda yesterday handed over an allocation of these Gilbert Rugby Balls to local Rugby Club, Dings Crusaders Rugby Football Club, an English rugby union team based in the Bristol suburb of Frenchay. Dings Director of Rugby Stean Williams said: “We are extremely grateful to Bristol Honda for donating these rugby balls. They will get plenty of use at Dings, whether it’s with our mini and junior section, the girls and women’s squads or our senior men’s teams. Grassroots rugby clubs often rely on external support and sponsorship, and we a delighted to accept this kind donation from Honda – thank you from Dings Crusaders RFC.”
